What does SEO training in Perth cover?
Good SEO training in Perth should cover how Google finds and ranks pages, keyword research, on-page copy, Google Business Profile, technical basics and how to measure results. Ours covers the same ground as a typical SEO training course in Perth, but every topic is taught on your own website and Search Console data, so you finish with changes made, not just notes.
Most course outlines are built around a sample website, which is fine for theory and poor for action. When you learn keyword research on someone else’s site, you still have to work out what it means for yours. Here’s what each part of our curriculum covers and what you walk away with.
| Module | What you learn | What you leave with |
|---|---|---|
| How Google ranks local businesses | Crawling, indexing, the Maps pack vs organic results, and what actually moves rankings | A clear picture of where your enquiries come from |
| Search Console on your data | Reading clicks, impressions, positions and queries; finding pages stuck on page 2 | A shortlist of searches you’re close to winning |
| Keyword research | Finding buyer-intent searches by service and suburb; checking real demand before writing | A keyword-to-page map for your services |
| On-page SEO | Titles, meta descriptions, headings, page copy and internal links | Your most important pages rewritten in the session |
| Google Business Profile | Categories, services, photos, posts and a review routine | A profile set up properly, plus a monthly checklist |
| Technical basics | Indexing, speed, mobile and broken pages; what to fix yourself vs brief a developer | A list of technical issues sorted by who should fix them |
| Links and reputation | What a good link looks like, what to avoid, and local link sources | A short list of realistic link opportunities |
| Measuring results | Tracking calls and forms, not just rankings | A simple monthly reporting routine |
A worked example of why your own data matters: a plumber in Midland opens Search Console in the session and finds a page getting impressions for “blocked drain Midland” at an average position of 14, so it’s sitting on page 2. That page has a generic title and no mention of the suburb. Fixing the title, heading and first paragraph takes ten minutes in the session, and it’s a better lesson than an hour of slides on title tags.
One red flag worth checking on any course outline: how current it is. At least one Perth-listed one-day SEO course still names the Panda, Penguin and Hummingbird updates in its syllabus. Those launched between 2011 and 2013. They’re useful history, but if a curriculum leans on them, ask what it says about AI Overviews, Google Business Profile and how local search works now.
How much does an SEO course in Perth cost?
Our private SEO training is priced from our consultant rate of $150–$250 an hour, so a 3-hour owner session costs $450–$750 and a half-day team workshop costs around $600–$1,000. Every session is quoted after a short call. Public classroom courses advertised for Perth vary widely, and one internationally run one-day course lists $2,695 for its online instructor-led version.
| Format | Who it suits | Typical length | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Owner session (1-on-1) | A business owner who’ll do their own SEO | 2–3 hours | $300–$750 |
| Team workshop (in-house) | A marketing or admin team of a few people | Half day (about 4 hours) | $600–$1,000 |
| Monthly coaching | Anyone doing the work who wants it checked | 1–2 hours a month | $150–$500 a month |
| Pre-session site review | Included in the quote for the formats above | Varies by site size | Quoted with the session |
These figures are worked from the $150–$250 hourly range, not fixed prices. The quote depends on how many people attend, how big your site is and how much preparation it needs. Coaching is month-to-month with no lock-in, and you can stop when you’re confident.
For comparison, having an agency do the work for you typically costs $800–$1,500 a month for a low-competition local trade and $1,500–$3,000 a month for a competitive or multi-service business. Our SEO pricing guide breaks down every option side by side.
SEO course or private SEO lessons: which is better?
Private SEO lessons are better if you want to improve one specific website. A public SEO course is better if you want a general grounding, a certificate for your CV, or you don’t have a site of your own yet. The difference comes down to whose website you spend the day on.
| Public SEO course | Private SEO training | |
|---|---|---|
| Website used | A sample site or the trainer’s examples | Your own website and data |
| Pace and content | Set for the room | Set for your business and skill level |
| Questions | Shared with other attendees | Every question is about your site |
| Output | Notes and a certificate of attendance | Changes made, a keyword map and a 90-day plan |
| Industry relevance | General, across many industries | Your industry, your suburbs, your competitors |
| Confidentiality | You discuss your business in a group | Your data stays between you and the trainer |
| Best for | Career changers and marketing students | Owners and in-house teams with a site to grow |
If you’re building a career in SEO, a structured course with a recognised syllabus has real value. If you’re a business owner, you don’t need a certificate. You need your website to bring in more enquiries, and the fastest way to learn that is on the website itself. This is the same reason we start every client with a free SEO audit: advice only matters once it’s applied to your actual site.
What happens in an in-house SEO workshop?
An in-house SEO workshop is a half-day, hands-on session at your workplace or by video call where your team learns SEO on your own website and agrees who does what afterwards. It suits businesses with a marketer, admin person or web developer who’ll take on SEO tasks but has never had a clear plan.
A typical half-day SEO workshop in Perth with us runs like this:
- Where you stand now (45 minutes). We walk through your Search Console data and Google Business Profile together, so the whole team sees the same picture.
- Keywords and pages (60 minutes). We map your services and suburbs to the searches customers type, and decide which page should rank for each.
- Hands-on fixes (75 minutes). The team rewrites titles, headings and copy on your most important pages, with feedback as they go.
- Roles and routine (60 minutes). We agree who owns each task, what gets checked monthly, and which problems get escalated to a developer or specialist.
The last part is where most workshops fall short. A team can leave a training day full of ideas and still do nothing, because nobody owns the work. We finish with named owners for each task and a written 90-day plan, and monthly coaching is there if you want someone checking progress.
Can you learn to do your own SEO, or will you still need help?
You can learn to do your own SEO if you run a single-location business in a low-competition industry and can give it a few hours a week. Competitive industries usually still need outside help with link building and technical work, even after training. Training makes you a better client either way, because you’ll know what good work looks like.
Here’s an honest decision rule:
- DIY works well for a single-location trade or service business in a quieter market, such as a mobile mechanic in Mandurah or a cleaner in Joondalup, where Google Business Profile, good service pages and steady reviews do most of the work. Our local SEO page covers what that involves.
- DIY plus coaching works for growing businesses with an in-house marketer who can implement, but who needs someone to check priorities and catch mistakes.
- You’ll likely still need help in competitive industries such as legal, finance, medical and ecommerce, or with multiple locations. In these markets, rankings depend heavily on links and technical work that take specialist time. Retainers there typically run $3,000–$6,000+ a month.
What training can’t do is speed up Google. Even with every fix in place, early movement typically shows in 6–12 weeks, meaningful lead growth in 3–6 months, and competitive terms take 6–12 months. Anyone promising you’ll rank #1 after a course is selling the course, not telling you how search works.
If you’re still deciding between learning SEO and paying for it, our SEO consultant page compares hourly advice with an agency retainer, and our SEO for small business guide covers what’s realistic on a small budget. When you’re ready, contact us for a short call and a quote.

FAQ
SEO Training Perth: common questions
How much does SEO training cost in Perth?
Our private SEO training is priced at $150–$250 an hour, so a 3-hour owner session costs $450–$750 and a half-day team workshop around $600–$1,000. Every session is quoted after a short call, based on attendees and how much preparation your site needs.
Is there an official SEO certification in Australia?
No. Australia has no SEO licence or governing body, and Google doesn't certify SEO practitioners; its Skillshop certifications cover products such as Google Ads and Analytics. A course certificate shows you attended, not that you can rank a website.
Can I learn to do my own SEO?
Yes, if you run a single-location business in a low-competition industry and can give it a few hours a week. Owners in that position can usually handle their Google Business Profile, page copy and Search Console themselves. Competitive industries usually still need outside help with links and technical work.
Do you run public SEO classes or group courses?
No. We only run private sessions: 1-on-1 for owners, in-house workshops for teams, and ongoing monthly coaching. That's what lets every session use your own website and data instead of a generic example.
Do I need technical skills for SEO training?
No. If you can edit a page on your website and log in to Google, you can do most of what we teach. We point out the jobs that need a developer so you know when to hand them over.
What do I need before an SEO training session?
Access to Google Search Console, your Google Business Profile and a login for your website editor. If Search Console isn't set up, we help you set it up first, because the session is built around your own data.
How long does it take to learn SEO?
The basics for a local business can be learned in one 2–3 hour session and practised over the following month. Getting confident at reading data and choosing priorities usually takes a few months of doing the work, which is what monthly coaching is for.
